For its final General Membership Meeting of 2018, SCMAP will open up discussion on recent issues affecting supply chain as businesses head to the year-end and Christmas peak periods.

The GMM will be held on 15 November, Thursday, from 1pm to 5pm at the Santan Room of the EDSA Shangri-la Manila, 1 Garden Way, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.

In recent weeks stakeholders across the supply chain have complained of the recurrence of port congestion, and the resulting disruption and knock-on effects on shipping schedules and return of empty containers. Recent developments surrounding the Bureau of Customs also threaten to disrupt normal operations, particularly for importers looking to bring products to shelves in time for Christmas. Other issues include the continuing question of shipping rates and ongoing construction of new infrastructure projects.

Dr. Henry Basilio, co-chair of the National Committee for Transportation and Logistics of the Export Development Council, is joining us to provide updates on these issues and to provide his insights into possible approaches for all stakeholders. More speakers and resource persons are to be announced in the coming days.

The GMM will also center on an open discussion where delegates are expected to share their experiences and insights into these issues. There will also be updates on SCMAP’s upcoming events for the rest of 2018 and beyond, and we begin online voting for the 2019 Board of Directors – the members of which will be announced at the Christmas fellowship on 6 December.

Registration is now open; click here to sign up. Attendance is free for one representative per SCMAP member company. Additional representatives will be charged PHP 1,000, while non-members will be charged PHP 1,100. Those who register from 16 August onwards, as well as walk-in participants, will be charged PHP 1,200. Sponsorship opportunities are also available; click here for more information.
