The latest issue of Supply Chain Philippines, SCMAP’s official magazine, explores the reliance of our supply chains on oil, our vulnerability to price shocks, and whether we can truly remove ourselves from it.
In light of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties that have led to volatility in oil prices – particularly missile launches between Israel and Iran, which led to a PHP 5 increase in the cost of petroleum products per liter – as well as other concerns surrounding the use of fossil fuels across our supply chains, our cover story looks at how it may be easier now to remove oil from the equation, from the continued emergence of electric vehicles to investment in different modes of transport for our cargo. Can Philippine supply chains, reliant on imported oil, remove its reliance from it?
The issue also looks at the upcoming GS1 barcode standard and its implications across the supply chain, a look at plans to institutionalize sustainability reporting among Philippine businesses, as well as six months’ worth of updates on SCMAP activities and initiatives.
