The latest issue of SCMAP’s official magazine, Supply Chain Philippines, looks at how we can ensure our economy remains competitive in light of recent upheavals in global trade and geopolitics, particularly the ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs unleased by US president Donald Trump.

Events in recent months have upended long-established global norms and relationships, and have increased the risk of a global recession, or even a depression. But while the Philippine economy is not as heavily reliant to the United States as some state, some sectors will still be badly affected – and in any case, negative global sentiment can dampen our economic performance. In our cover story, we look at the tools at our disposal that we should use now to build our economy to be more competitive, allowing us to weather the possible storms ahead while also transforming our country into an attractive investment destination.

This issue also looks at the first ever B-READY Report of the World Bank, the further potential of halal logistics in the country, as well as six months’ worth of updates on SCMAP activities and initiatives.
