The Section G Job Blueprint for Wholesale and Retail Trade – the result of a groundbreaking partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippine Retailers Association and the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines – will be formally unveiled in a media launch on Monday, 16 June.
The launch, which will be led by DTI secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, will be held at Tres Filipino Twists restaurant at the SM North EDSA Annex. Also attending will be DTI undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco of the Supply Chain and Logistics group; PRA president Roberto Claudio Sr., and SCMAP president Dennis Llovido.
Also coinciding with the launch is the 2025 Wholesale and Retail Trade Job Fair, co-organized by SCMAP and PRA, to be held at the SM North EDSA Annex Atrium.
The blueprint is the result of several months of close consultation between the three organizations, its member companies and other stakeholders from across the end-to-end retail ecosystem. Focus group discussions were held from October to December 2024, culminating in the first Wholesale and Retail Trade Forum last 2 December at the AIM Conference Center in Makati.
The final blueprint was then presented to the boards of both SCMAP and PRA for their inputs and approval before being presented to the DTI secretary.
The strategies outlined in the plan identify interventions not just to allow the retail sector to be future-ready and to further its position as a driver of job generation and economic growth, but also to better position Philippine-made products to markets here and abroad, as well as to improve efficiencies in the logistics sector that enables the retail ecosystem.
After the media launch, the Section G blueprint will be fully revealed in the upcoming MSMED Week in July, and then in succeeding initiatives and events by PRA and SCMAP.
