The Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines were among the several private sector companies and groups that pledged its support for the Supply Chain and Logistics Center, a new initiative by the Department of Trade and Industry designed to provide further logistics support to MSMEs across the country.
The ceremony was held last 18 June at the DTI headquarters in Makati City, and was led by DTI secretary Ma. Cristina Roque and DTI undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco.
The SCLC will initially take the form of a phone hotline and online portal where MSMEs and other interested parties can reach out for their logistics-related queries. A physical support center is currently under construction at the DTI offices and is slated to open later this year. In the future, the SCLC is envisioned to extend to other DTI regional offices to provide relevant information, white-glove services and preferential discounts, and contribute expertise and knowledge to MSMEs.
DTI secretary Roque says that the SCLC is part of the Marcos administration’s thrust to strengthen MSMEs.
Also taking part in the ceremonial pledging of support are 2GO, Airspeed, Cebu Pacific Cargo, DHL Supply Chain, F2 Logistics, Fast Logistics, FedEx, Grab Express, Laguna Gateway Inland Container Terminal, Lalamove, LBC Express, Maersk Omnichannel Fulfillment, Philippine Airlines Cargo, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation, Yello X Supply Chain Solutions, and the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association.
In his address of support, SCMAP president Dennis Llovido envisions the SCLC also as a central hub of information for all stakeholders, allowing companies to make more informed decisions earlier and better.
SCMAP also plays a key role in refining the service offerings of the SCLC, with the assistance of its Supply Chain Leaders Advisory Council.
