SCMAP conducted its second Supply Chain Leaders’ Lunch, an invitation-only gathering of top-level supply chain stakeholders, last 5 September at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City.
The event, which officially kicked off the 2023 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, saw representatives from major manufacturers, retailers and logistics providers, as well as key government agencies and industry associations. It provided a venue to discuss major challenges and opportunities posed to the industry. The event’s output would help SCMAP in its further engagement with its members and the sector at large, starting with this year’s conference which happens on 21-22 September.
Among those in attendance were Department of Transportation undersecretary Elmer Sarmiento and Department of Trade and Industry assistant secretary Mary Jean Pacheco, and REID Foundation’s Ronilo Balbieran, as well as past SCMAP presidents Arnel Gamboa (who once again moderated the event) and Mark Philip Comandante.
Among topics discussed include the potential impact of artificial intelligence on supply chain operations, the thrust towards sustainable operations, and new infrastructure initiatives.
SCMAP looks forward to furthering its engagement with the country’s major supply chain stakeholders as it moves forward with its thrust of “one supply chain” to address long-standing concerns and allow the sector to better fulfill its role as the economy’s backbone and lifeblood. In recent months the organization has done so by mounting more immersive events allowing participants to observe first-hand supply chain operations, and expanded its training initiatives with TESDA and De La Salle University.
