The 2023 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference – the most prestigious event in Philippine supply chain – was held last 21-22 September at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City.
With the theme One Supply Chain Setting Transformation in Motion, the event once again brought together thought leaders from supply chain, business, retail and technology to discuss the issues confronting the sector and affecting its role as an agent of change not just for businesses, but for its customers as well. Over 320 delegates from across the industry – most of them in management levels – took part to listen and to exchange ideas with their peers.
The event was anchored by keynote addresses by Margot Torres of McDonald’s Philippines and Ronilo Balbieran (speaking on behalf of DTI assistant secretary Mary Jean Pacheco) who shared their perspectives on how supply chain can affect change within and outside of their businesses.
It was followed by a session on managing risks within the supply chain, with PLDT’s Rajat Sarna, Ace Hardware’s Arnel Gamboa and Refinitiv’s Wendy de Cruz sharing their views on what we should look out for and how we can address the challenges posed to us.
The following day saw a session on technology and people with Maersk’s Joyce Ramos and ALTS Canada’s Bruce Gilkes. This was followed by an address by Philippine blockchain pioneer Donald Lim, which kicked off the signing of a memorandum of agreement among stakeholders, including SCMAP, to champion and develop the role of blockchain in revolutionizing supply chains.
The conference’s final session explored challenges and opportunities in promoting sustainability in supply chain, with Del Monte Philippines’ Iggy Sison, Mober’s Dennis Ng and Arthur D. Little’s Anna Rellama.
Also speaking at the event were ATI’s Ian Baking, Anchanto’s Vaibhav Dabhade and HKTDC’s Vian Cheung.
As always, the conference was accompanied by an exhibit featuring world-class solutions and products from leading logistics providers and technology providers in the country and across the region.
In his opening address, SCMAP president Dennis Llovido hailed the sector’s role in setting transformation in motion for the businesses and customers they serve, as well as the economy and greater quality of life, and encouraged everyone to further collaboration to achieve shared common goals.
The next SCMAP Supply Chain Conference is expected to be held in September next year.
This event was presented in partnership with Mober and with the support of its sponsors and event partners.
