One of SCMAP’s flagship events, the annual Supply Chain Immersion, returned after four years away with an exploration of what makes responsible and impactful supply chains.
This year’s event, held last 21-23 May, was held on board MV 2GO Maligaya, en route to Cebu City, where over 30 delegates from across various industries toured key supply chain stakeholders and heard from industry experts.
On board, they heard from Amante Aguilar, Christine Pardiñas, Pierre Carlo Curay and Dennis Llovido as they shared their perspectives on how supply chains can have an impact that goes beyond the company. They also toured the MV 2GO Maligaya, one of the newest vessels of the 2GO Group, and were treated to a night of fun and music during the fellowship dinner.
Upon arrival in Cebu, the delegates visited the Port of Cebu, the region’s most important logistics hub, where they learned about how it is being developed to become a world-class port serving Central Visayas and the rest of the country, and also observed cargo operations for both ROPAX and container vessels.
It was followed by a tour of the production facilities of Profood International Corporation, one of the country’s largest fruit manufacturers, renowned for its dried fruit products, as well as juices and preserves, with a huge market abroad. That night, another fellowship dinner was attended by presidents of SCMAP’s Visayas chapter, where they heard from current president Capt. Rodien Paca.
In the end, the delegates’ bonds were forged as such that spirits were high despite a delayed flight back to Manila on the evening of the 22nd.
SCMAP is planning a second edition of Supply Chain Immersion for the year, tentatively scheduled for July, centered this time on land transport. More information will be revealed as soon as they are confirmed.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at the Cebu Port Authority, Profood International Corporation, and 2GO for their support, as well as to the leadership of the SCMAP Visayas chapter, and to our speakers and delegates.
