This year’s Supply Chain Outlook, held last 3 March at the Palawan Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-la Manila, looked at the opportunities ahead for the Philippine supply chain sector as the country’s economy continues to pick up the pace after the height of the pandemic, and amidst geopolitical uncertainties.

Over 100 delegates, including key industry stakeholders and decision makers, came to listen to leading policy makers as they discussed government initiatives and private sector responses to ongoing logistics issues.

Department of Transportation undersecretary Elmer Sarmiento delivered the keynote address, discussing his agency’s initiatives to improve our logistics and transport networks, particularly those concerning maritime trade, which he directly handles.

Anti-Red Tape Authority director general Ernesto Perez also spoke about his agency’s ongoing initiatives to improve the movement of goods, including the United Logistics Pass and plans to address port congestion.

As always, REID Foundation’s Ronilo Balbieran joined to present his outlook for the Philippine economy.

The event also saw the induction of SCMAP’s 2023 Board of Directors, led by president Dennis Llovido. In his inaugural address he talked of continuing SCMAP’s activities, initiatives and events that worked to advance the cause of the Philippine supply chain industry, including a continued return to in-person events and exploring further avenues for collaborations between member companies to lower costs. He vows to continue the organization’s work as “the first mover of Philippine supply chain”.
