The 2022 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, held last 22-23 September at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City, was a triumphant gathering of the country’s industry professionals and stakeholders, as the most prestigious event in Philippine supply chain mounted its first in-person edition since the onset of the pandemic.

The event saw over 260 in-person delegates come together to gain insights on the way forward for supply chain from industry stakeholders, thought leaders and policy makers, and also to network with peers and colleagues in a face-to-face setting. There were also over 100 delegates who took part virtually from across the country.

Carrying the theme One Supply Chain Moving Forward, this year’s conference explored key issues facing the sector as it continues to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and makes sense of its greater role in economic growth and quality of life. These issues were initially tackled during the Supply Chain Leaders’ Lunch held a week prior, on 14 September. You can watch video highlights of this event here.

The event formally kicked off on 22 September with addresses from key industry stakeholders in both government and the private sector. Rep. Bernadette Herrera spoke of legislative proposals to further the competitiveness of Philippine supply chain, including plans to reform the Philippine Ports Authority. Usec. Ernesto Perez of the Anti-Red Tape Authority discussed continuing efforts to facilitate the movement of goods by focusing regulatory reforms. Representing the private sector were Nestlé Philippines’ Anderson Martins and LF Logistics’ Joyce Ramos, sharing their learnings from the past two years.

Later that day, after a short address from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Vian Cheung, a panel discussion on engaging supply chain talent amidst new employee demands and the rising role of technology was led by DHL Supply Chain Philippines’ Katrina Soliveres, GrabForBusiness’ Angelo Jayno, and seasoned supply chain practitioner (and former SCMAP director) Amante Aguilar.

On 23 September, a session focusing on the shifting paradigms faced by the supply chain sector was anchored by talks from GoNegosyo and the Aboitiz Group’s Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, FAST Logistics’ Manny Onrejas, and ExoAsia Innovation Hub’s Mack Comandante. This was followed by a panel discussion on fostering innovative thinking across the supply chain, led by ShopSM’s Jayan Dy, InsightSCS’ Remi John Noman and Honeywell Logistics Solutions’ Jonathan Kwok.

The event was accompanied by an exhibit featuring the biggest and most exciting names across the industry, including major logistics service providers, hardware and software solution companies.

In his opening remarks, SCMAP president Pierre Carlo Curay hailed the coming together of the industry after the challenges posed over the past couple of years. Meanwhile, in his closing remarks, president-elect Dennis Llovido challenged delegates to continue furthering opportunities for collaboration as one supply chain moving forward.

The next edition of the SCMAP Supply Chain Conference will be held in September 2023.

SCC22 was presented in partnership with the FAST Logistics Group.
