SCMAP Visayas held its second industry forum last 11 June, tackling transport issues affecting the Central Visayas region, as well as the campaign to encourage vaccinations against COVID-19.
Speaking first was Frances Alfafara of Project Bigay Buhay, a multi-sectoral initiative led by the Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Visayas and various private sector groups to encourage vaccinations among businesses in Cebu, initially, and elsewhere in the region. She talked about the systems put in place to allow private sector employees to sign up to be inoculated.
It was followed by a panel discussion on transport issues affecting the logistics sector in the region, led by Hector Miole, assistant general manager for operations of the Philippine Ports Authority, and Ricia Montejo, head of operations for Terminal 2 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Issues tackled include congestion at the port in Matnog, Sorsogon; the temporary closure of the MCIA; and how technology can be utilized to improve the sector’s service levels.
The event was sponsored by Boeing Material Handling Corporation, LF Logistics, Paca Training and Management System, AGS and Universal Voldega3 Logistics.
