SCMAP kicked off the new year with its annual Supply Chain Outlook, focusing on the possibilities of the digital economy and how supply chain stakeholders are working to enable and further the opportunities it presents.

The event, held last 7 February at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City, saw over a hundred delegates and friends of the organization explore what lies in the year ahead for supply chain.

Leading the speakers were Department of Trade and Industry assistant secretary Mary Jean Pacheco, who now leads the crafting of the updated Philippine E-Commerce Road Map. She navigated the many intricacies of the country’s digital economy, from online retail to payment systems, and previewed the government’s plans to better addresses issues and concerns stemming from them.

Fintech veteran Jojo Malolos, currently chief executive officer of Data Analytics Ventures Inc., the new consumer insights arm of the JG Summit group, also discussed the possibilities presented by the wealth of data being gathered by its businesses, and how it can be transformed to better serve its customers.

As always, REID Foundation’s Ronilo Balbieran presented his economic outlook for 2020, where he expressed optimism with government spending poised to pick up speed after the passing of the 2020 budget.

The event also saw the induction of SCMAP’s Board of Directors for 2020, led by president Christine PardiƱas. She also outlined the organization’s thrusts for 2020, particularly a focus on training and academe programs, as well as a greater thrust towards relevant supply chain concerns.

The event was sponsored by Converge ICT Solutions.
