SCMAP’s latest General Membership Meeting focused on the importance of connectivity to supply chain through an overview of efforts to improve ICT infrastructure, as well as new technologies that are also set to revolutionize supply chain and beyond.

The event, held on 15 August at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila, comes in light of recent news of a third telecom being awarded to what is now called Dito Telecommunity, and the looming shake-up in the sector come 2020.

SCMAP’s Henrik Batallones provided a primer on where the Philippines is when it comes to Internet infrastructure, and efforts from the public and private sectors to step up in this regard. The organization’s vice president, Carlo Curay, then discussed emerging 5G technology and how it is poised to enable many other technological breakthroughs. The talks were later followed by an open forum.

The GMM also saw the induction of new members: ABest Express, Centro Manufacturing Corporation, Kuehne + Nagel, MobileMo and Wyeth Philippines.

The next General Membership Meeting is scheduled for 21 November, with details to be confirmed closer to the date.

This event was sponsored by Solar Philippines and Isuzu Motors.
