SCMAP’s recently concluded General Membership Meeting, held at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila last 20 June, looked at the regulatory landscape for the transport sector and pondered on its impact on the country’s supply chain.
Speaking at the event were Dr. Henry Basilio, who presented an overview of the challenges facing regulations on supply chain as well as his work with USAID-RESPOND; Marilyn Alberto of the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association, who looked at international plans to harmonize standards and its potential impact on the transport sector; and Mary Zapata of the Confederation of Truckers Associations of the Philippines, who presented a perspective on local regulations impacting the trucking industry.
They were later joined by SCMAP executive director Cora Curay on an open forum that saw a discussion on the increased cooperation between stakeholders in recent years, as well as hot topics such as the proposed move of some air operations to Sangley Point.
The GMM also saw the unveiling of the first six speakers for this year’s SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, as well as a landmark survey in collaboration with PriceWaterhouseCoopers that seeks to understand current supply chain capacity in the Philippines. Three new members were also inducted: ASP Airspeed Philippines, Edward Keller Philippines and MOF Company (Subic) Inc.
SCMAP’s next General Membership Meeting will be held on 15 August, with details to be revealed closer to the date.
