The Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines supports the first Logistics Services Philippines Conference and Exhibition, slated for 6-7 December 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The event is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Competitiveness Bureau, in association with the Export Management Bureau and Board of Investments, and with the support of Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, and has as its theme Trabaho at Negosyo: Creating Opportunities in the Logistics Services Sector.
The two-day event gathers stakeholders across the logistics services sector, the government and other interested partners in a discussion of issues that affect the sector’s ability to serve its customers and remain competitive in an ever-evolving supply chain landscape. The event is a thrust of the DTI-CB as it aims to understand and address concerns surrounding the Philippines’ supply chain competitiveness. This event will be held in conjunction with this year’s National Export Congress, which will be held on 7 December and the PICC.
Among the issues to be discussed are the country’s ranking in the most recent Logistics Performance Index, regulatory reforms and ease of doing business, and investment opportunities for the sector. These will be tackled on the conference proper, which will be held on 6 December. The following day, a business-matching event featuring 48 logistics service providers – including transport providers, warehousing and cargo handling – will look to link with MSMEs and exporters.
“Realizing the potential of LSPs as one of the core enablers of development and major driver of job generation, we organized the first-ever Logistics Services Philippines Conference to serve as platform for discussion among key stakeholders: the logistics services providers, the MSMEs, and the government,” DTI undersecretary Rowel Barba said in a statement. “Developing a globally-competitive logistics services sector is important in supporting the industries and strengthening our supply chain.”
SCMAP, representing various stakeholders across the supply chain, is a supporting partner of this event, alongside eleven other organizations representing other supply chain stakeholders and players.
