Undersecretary Ruth Castelo of the Department of Trade and Industry is joining the 2017 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference as one of the event’s keynote speakers.

She will represent the public sector in the keynote session on the morning of 21 September, speaking alongside Peter Wallace, who will represent the private sector.

Castelo leads the DTI’s Competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business Group, which was established last year to oversee efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the country’s businesses and to ensure a conducive environment for starting and running a business. Part of the CEODBG’s efforts include the establishment of roadmaps for supply chain and e-commerce, promotion of the construction industry, and leading initiative pertaining to the BIMP-EAGA economic group.

Prior to joining the DTI, Castelo was an arbitrator for the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission, overseeing disputes relating to construction contracts and other related issues. She worked as a city attorney, and later moved to private law practice. She also worked as a consultant for the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

Castelo joins a stellar line-up of speakers for this year’s conference, which includes Rustan Supercenters head Irwin Lee, Mead Johnson global supply chain head Antonio Rivera III, Google Philippines head Kenneth Lingan, and renowned architect Felino Palafox Jr. Click here to learn more about our speaker roster, and click here to view our conference programme.

The SCMAP Supply Chain Conference is the organization’s flagship event, gathering industry leaders, supply chain experts and policy makers to look at the issues, challenges and opportunities for supply chain in the Philippines. It is also the widest gathering of supply chain practitioners in the country, with an exhibit bringing together top logistics service and product providers.
