Renowned economist Dr. Bernardo Villegas and infrastructure champion Dr. Enrico Basilio will be taking part in Supply Chain Outlook, SCMAP’s upcoming event looking at the year ahead for the supply chain industry.
One of the country’s best known economists and thinkers, Dr. Bernardo Villegas is one of the founders of the Center for Research and Communication, a private think tank which evolved into the University of Asia and the Pacific. He currently sits as vice president of UA&P’s Board of Trustees and a member of the faculty of its School of Economics. A recipient of a Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics from Harvard University, Dr. Villegas has written several books on economics widely used nowadays as textbooks; has advised five Philippine presidents, including a stint with the Constitutional Commission under Corazon Aquino; and writes columns for local and international publications such as the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Time and the Asian Wall Street Journal. Dr. Villegas will provide delegates a peek at what lies ahead for the Philippine economy in 2017.
A long-time friend of SCMAP, Dr. Enrico Basilio is currently the private sector co-chair of the National Committee on Transportation and Logistics of the Export Development Council. For the past few years he was Chief of Party of USAID’s Advancing Philippine Competitiveness Project, which provides technical assistance to the Philippine government on infrastructure and economic development. A former president of the REID Foundation, he was critical in the implementation of the Philippine RORO Nautical Highway and the drafting of the ASEAN Master Plan on Connectivity. He received his Doctorate of Public Administration from the University of the Philippines. Dr. Basilio will moderate a forum with the event’s speakers, more details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Supply Chain Outlook will be held on 7 February 2017, from 3pm to 7pm, at the Palawan Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City. It will serve as the first General Membership Meeting for 2017, and will also feature the induction of SCMAP’s 2017 Board of Directors.
