The latest issue of SCMAP’s official magazine, Supply Chain Philippines, looks at the emerging concepts of Logistics 5.0 – where human workers and emerging technologies better work together – and how it can impact our lives in the future.

A response to Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0, which advocates for increased operational efficiencies through technology, the concepts of Industry 5.0 and Logistics 5.0 seeks to put the “human touch” to the latter, advocating for augmentation and collaboration between humans and technology rather than substitution or replacement. In his essay for the magazine, editor-in-chief Henrik Batallones looks at how these new ideas are already in place in some of our operations – and how, when stretched further, we can better prepare for it while also taking care of those displaced and left behind.

The issue also looks at three key infrastructure projects set to impact the logistics picture in the Philippines, five digital transformation concepts taking businesses, and updates from the last six months of SCMAP events and initiatives.
