SCMAP Visayas looked at the challenges facing the supply chain sector in Central Visayas in the coming year in its recently concluded General Membership Meeting last 18 October.

Held once again at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, the event saw 81 delegates from 40 companies based in Cebu and beyond take part.

The event focused on developments looking to boost supply chain capacity and capability in the region. Kicking off the event was Dr. Floro Ringca, provincial director for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Cebu, who discussed the agency’s efforts to expand vocational education, particularly in supply chain, in the region and across the nation.

On the infrastructure front, Jose Fernando Bugtai of Pier 88 Ventures previewed plans for a new passenger and cargo port to be developed in Liloan, Cebu, which is expected to decongest the main port of Cebu and provide new options for both passengers and businesses in Metro Cebu.

Finally, TransSolution Logistics and Management’s Ninoy Rollan returned to Cebu to present a new perspective on leadership, particularly as millennials (and those that come after) come in to replace and bring new life to companies across the chain.

The chapter also inducted two new member companies, Union Galvasteel and Cebu Energy Development Corporation.

The event wraps up a successful year for SCMAP Visayas, with three events on the log, including the fourth edition of flagship event Sharpening the Supply Chain Practitioners.

The event was sponsored by XLog and the TAWI Group of Companies.
