Three new speakers have been confirmed to join the 2017 SCMAP Supply Chain Conference, happening on 21-22 September at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in Mandaluyong City.
First on the list is Dickson Ho, the head of the Asian and Emerging Markets research team for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He leads a team of researchers looking into business opportunities for markets in east and south Asia, the Middle East and Africa, with a particular focus on market and consumer trends. He also oversees research on developments affecting major service industries in Hong Kong, particularly on logistics, financial and professional services.
Ho is joining the conference’s first session, Connect: Linking the Philippines and the World, happening on midday of 21 September. He will be talking about the Belt and Road Initiative, a program led by the Chinese government aiming to connect it to its neighboring economies through infrastructure projects.
Also joining the conference is Maureen Ledesma, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Vesl Trade Finance, a new start-up company offering a new platform for trade credit insurance to companies across the world. It is the only Philippine start-up to successfully take part at Startupbootcamp Fintech Singapore. A graduate of the De La Salle University Manila and the Vlerick Financial School in Brussels, Maureen previously worked in international banking and trade, notably with the London-based Czarnikow Group.
Finally, returning to the conference is Josemari Danga, business development manager for SSI Schaefer Philippines. Also a graduate of the De La Salle University, he has worked with several companies dealing with food manufacturing and information technology before joining the materials handling firm, where he now leads efforts to promote warehousing automation in the country.
Both Maureen and JM will take part in the event’s fifth session, Move: The Future Supply Chain, which will be held on the afternoon of 22 September.
In other updates, previously announced speak Asec. Arturo Boncato of the Department of Trade and Industry will no longer be taking part in the event due to work commitments.
The SCMAP Supply Chain Conference is the organization’s flagship event, gathering industry leaders, supply chain experts and policy makers to look at the issues, challenges and opportunities for supply chain in the Philippines. It is also the widest gathering of supply chain practitioners in the country, with an exhibit bringing together top logistics service and product providers.
