SCMAP’s latest General Membership Meeting gathered figures from business and law enforcement as they discussed how to ensure our supply chains are resilient and secure amidst natural disasters and man-made incidents.
Leading the event is PSSupt Amando Clifton Empiso, deputy regional director for operations of the Philippine National Police’s National Capital Region Police Office. Representing the NCRPO head PDir Oscar Albayalde, he spoke of the police force’s efforts to fight illegal drugs and reiterate the vow to continue protecting the Filipino people, and particularly businesses and their supply chain operations. He also called on the delegates to support police efforts, in part through responsible use of social media – a message made in the light of a leaked police memo on unconfirmed reports of a planned series of bombings in the capital.

Also speaking at the event were Unilab’s Nestor Felicio, who looked at strategies a company can take to ensure their supply chain is resilient; and XVC Logistics’ Carlo Curay, who discussed how his company coped with the disruption caused by Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 – and also shared that in Mindanao, business is going on as usual despite the declaration of martial law there in response to terrorist attacks in Marawi City.
Finally, Globe’s Apol Salud Jr. talked about the importance of data resiliency in ensuring supply chain operations continue despite disruptions, and highlighted the role played by cloud computing in this regard.
The GMM also saw the swearing in of new SCMAP member 88 Sunfreight Express Corporation, represented by Darwin Segismundo.
The next General Membership Meeting will be held on 17 August, with details to be announced closer to the date.
